Why it works for a team
Nobody is good at beach tennis on day one, so the usual hierarchy of the sportiest person winning everything doesn't happen.
It's played two a side with constant rotation, so people end up on a court with colleagues they don't normally speak to.
The sand takes the fear out of it — it's forgiving to land on, and nobody is running a marathon.
